The First Operator Of Pitcairn Island

Andrew Young was the first operator of Pitcairn Island, which is a remote island located in the Pacific Ocean that is home to a small community of people. He was a British sailor and mutineer on HMS Bounty, who settled on the island in 1790 with a group of fellow mutineers and Tahitians. They founded a settlement on the island and Young served as the island's first operator. He was an important leader among the settlers and helped establish the community's way of life.

The Pitcairn Island Amateur Radio Club (PIRARC) was established in 1979, and the club maintains a station on the island with the call sign VP6PB. The club conducts regular amateur radio operations, including DX-peditions, and they have made over 350,000 contacts with amateur radio operators around the world.
