Joe Taylor, K1JT is a retired astrophysicist and amateur radio operator. He is best known for developing the digital mode WSPR (Weak Signal Propagation Reporter) and the digital communication software WSJT (Weak Signal Communication, by K1JT). He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and received the Dayton Hamvention's Technical Excellence Award in 2008, and the ARRL's Hiram Percy Maxim Memorial Award in 2010. He also received the prestigious Marconi Award in 2019. He has been an active voice in the amateur radio community and continues to develop and improve the software that he has made available to the community.
