Many
applications require high accuracy and precision with rich functions for the
measurements and, at the same time, are expected to be easily handled. The
fluke 8845 and 8846 bench-top/desktop multimeters are highly precise and
provide a 6.5-digit precision and an accuracy of 0.0024% with a current rating
of 10A. The 8845 has all the features you expect from a digital meter with
additional accuracy and resolution. However, the 8846 model has some additional
features in addition to what 8845 offers. The capacitance, temperature, and
frequency measurements make it even more useful in testing and debugging
equipment.
Features:
The Fluke
precision series offers a versatile feature to consumers. A list of some basic
features is as below:
·
6.5 Digit Resolution
·
Accuracy of up to 0.0024% for DC voltage
·
Dual display for enhanced visibility
·
The current range of 100μA-10A
·
Current resolution up to 100pA
·
Wide ohms range from 10Ω to 1GΩ
·
Resistance resolution of 10μΩ
·
2x4 ohms 4-wire measurement technique
·
Frequency and period measurements
·
Capacitance and Temperature measurements feature in
8846A
·
8846A has a USB memory drive port
·
Graphical display
·
Paperless recorder mode, statistics, histogram plots
The dual
graphical display and the histogram plots combination make it great for various
applications. The main feature that makes this series unique is the 2x4 wire
ohmic measurements.
2x4 Wire
Resistance Precision Measurements:
The idea
with this new technology is to use two wires to take measurements of 4 wires.
The internal structure, as shown in figure 3 explains how it is possible to
take 2 measurements with only 2 wire setups.
4 Wire Resistance Measurements
Here one the question arises that using two wires only might affect the accuracy. This is
not true since the device has a very high impedance resistance 10Mohms at the input,
making the loading effect negligible, as very little current flows through it. However,
good leads must be used to affect the accuracy due to poor lead resistance.
The other advantage is
that the 2 wire setup uses the came clips as you use for the conventional 4
wire clips so there is no need to purchase some other clips.
